Governing documents
The Council is bound both by the law of England, and its own governing documents. On this page, you can download these documents, which are all Adobe Acrobat (PDF) files.
- Code of conduct - this regulates the conduct of Councillors acting in their official capacity.
- Standing orders - this regulates the conduct of Council business and meetings.
- Financial regulations - these regulate how taxpayers' money is spent by the Council.
- Freedom of information - how Council information is made public.
- Councillors' expenses policy - what expenses of office may be claimed by Councillors and how these are reimbursed.
- Clerk's expenses policy and use of internet banking - how telephone expenses may be claimed by the Clerk and how internet banking may be used to oversee the Council's accounts.

Audit
Every year, the council's accounts and procedures are audited, firstly by the internal auditor, Mr J P Lack, and secondly by the external auditor - the Audit Commission.
