Uplyme Parish Council

The Children's Playground

The Parish Council is responsible for the maintenance of the playground on King George's Field. Funding for upkeep of the equipment is provided by a grant from the Committee for Uplyme Playground (now wound up), and the Council makes an annual contribution from the precept.

Contrary to some suggestions, the playground has not been vandalised! Flood relief works are due to take place in Spring 2012 that will necessitate the digging of a ditch along the back of the playground. Play equipment and a bench have been removed so they do not get damaged. During the works, the playground will be temporarily closed for safety reasons.

We make regular safety inspections of the playground, but if you notice any problems in between, please contact the Clerk so that we can keep the play equipment in good order.

We are always picking up litter - especially sweet wrappers. If your children on grandchildren use the playground, please ask them to put their litter in the bin near the village hall.

You can see the last three annual inspection reports for 2009, 2010, and 2011 here. (PDF files). The earlier ones contain some inaccuracies which have been reported back to the inspector.
