As the first part of the Devon County Council flood risk investigation, a company called South West Land Surveys will be conducting a site survey of the Cooks Mead and Venlake areas including the watercourses, highways, flood affected properties and community assets.
The surveyors should be on site on the week commencing the 6th of January for two to three weeks. Cllr Ostler will try to call on everyone affected to let them know what’s happening.
All staff will carry photo ID and a permit from the DCC Flood Risk Management Team. Please ask for this id if you are unsure of their legitimacy. If it cannot be produced, then please ask them to leave your land. You can call John Galt on 01392 382252 if this occurs and he will verify their identification.
DCC ask politely that you leave the surveyors to their work – tempting though it may be to tell them your own flooding problems. They will get the job done much better if they are allowed to get on with it!
(We are told that the results of the survey will then be tested in a tank model to try and find pinch points in the system, potential quick fixes, and longer term solutions.)
