
To commemorate HM The Queen’s platinum jubilee, Uplyme Parish Council were given an oak tree sapling by Leader of East Devon District Council, Cllr. Ian Thomas. The tree was planted by the tree team of East Devon District Council on the land adjacent to the war memorial with the kind permission of Barnes Meadow Management Committee.
Cllr. Chris James, Chair of Uplyme Parish Council, offered thanks on behalf of the Council to Cllr. Thomas for donating the native species oak tree, which will be a lasting legacy for generations to come and a fitting tribute to the longest serving monarch in British history. Also in attendance were Mr David Cox, Barnes Meadow Management Committee and Mr John Duffin, Tree Warden for the Parish Council.
