Please note: Uplyme Parish Council are still waiting for a response from Connecting Devon & Somerset for future works.

We expect to have all our civils and fibre cabling works in Uplyme completed early February 2021. Giving a firm date for the fibre network to go live is tricky as we’re buying a circuit from BT to provide the backhaul connection for our main cabinet and as yet they, (BT), haven’t confirmed when this circuit will be available. Our expectation at the moment is that we’ll be ready to start connecting our first customers in Uplyme during February / March 2021.
Yes we’re building new fibre-to-the-premise network in other areas in Devon and Somerset. We are moving our focus away from very rural areas now as we’re no longer contracted to CDS. To give an example of the newer areas we’ve currently got in build, we’re working in Yatton and Axbridge at the present time.
When we complete our current network build in Uplyme we don’t have any plans at the present time to extend our network to increase the local coverage.
I would encourage residents to go to our website www.gigaclear.com and enter their postcode in the postcode checker box. This will confirm if we’re planning to provide a connection to their property. If we are providing a connection, the resident can register for updates and they’ll then receive an e-mail or telephone call, (depending on their preferences), when their connection point goes live. It should be noted that registering via our website isn’t a commitment to buy our service.
