Contractor Gigaclear was commissioned by Connecting Devon and Somerset (CDS) to roll out the superfast broadband in Uplyme, but allegedly failed to meet targets set in 2018 for the number of homes and businesses connected and consequently the internet service provider tasked with rolling out full-fibre broadband across Devon and Somerset has had its five contracts severed. CDS said it will be launching a fresh procurement on the open market this autumn and begin the search for one or more service providers.
The Parish Council are actively campaigning to resurrect the implementation of faster broadband in Uplyme with the latest request for support from the local East Devon MP on the 24/06/2020.
