Whalley Lane February 2014 (PDF file)

As part of Southern Gas Networks ongoing mains replacement programme to provide a safe and secure gas supply for the future, a project needs to be carried out in Whalley Lane.

The project requires replacing a 120m section of old 4″ metal gas main and all the associated individual property supplies from the junction of Uplyme Road to outside of the property named “Greystoke”.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the work, and in order to ensure the safety of operatives
& road users, it will be necessary to close the road to vehicular traffic.

A signed vehicular diversion will be put in place during the closure via Uplyme Road, Venlake Lane and Gore Lane with residential access for those living within the closed section by arrangement.

SGN has been advised by Devon County Council that they are planning to carry out some highway improvement works before April 2014 on the above section of Whalley Lane so it
is imperative that SGN completes the works prior to this happening to avoid excavating their new road surface.
